Our Vision of Education

At Acton Academy Fishers, we start with the most important question: What is the purpose of education? At Acton we believe that education is for discovering a calling. It’s for answering the most fundamental questions: Who am I? Where am I going? How do my passions and talents connect with the world around me? How can I serve a great need and even change the world?

Our Educational Philosophy

We believe that students are the agents and primary drivers of their learning. We believe that the role of adults is to prepare the physical and social environment and craft and curate experiences to support their educational journey.

What We Believe

We believe every child is a genius who has a special gift that can change the world in a profound way.

We believe children are capable and that Learning to Be and Learning to Do are more important than learning to know.

We believe in a closely connected family of lifelong learners.

We believe in economic, political, and religious freedoms for our children.

We believe every child pursues their own Hero’s Journey, in which they are called to be challenged and learn important lessons. This allows them great opportunity to discover their unique personal gifts, ultimately changing the world in a profound way.

At Acton Academy Fishers, students learn in collaborative studios of multi-age learners.

We hold deep Socratic discussions about history, heroes, and self-governance to develop critical thinking skills and the ability to speak and write.

We have hands-on quests to solve real world, relevant problems.

We create promises and covenants to form a tight knit community.

Our flexible approach challenges each student with their differentiated learning plan and inspires them through real-world projects.
