What We Believe and the Hero’s Journey
We believe every child is a genius who has a special gift that can change the world in a profound way.
We believe children are capable and that learning to be and learning to do are more important than learning to know.
We believe in a closely connected family of lifelong learners.
We believe in economic, political, and religious freedoms for our children.
We believe every child pursues their own Hero’s Journey, in which they are called to be challenged and learn important lessons that will allow them to discover their unique gifts that can change the world in a profound way.
We Turn Learning Upside Down
We offer a fundamentally different approach to school supported by the latest in technology for self-paced mastery of core skills. We move beyond the traditional tools of lectures, homework, high-stakes tests, and grades.
At Acton Academy Fishers, students learn in collaborative studios of multi-age learners. We hold deep Socractic discussions about history, heroes, and self-governance to develop critical thinking skills and the ability to speak and write. We have hands-on quests to solve real world problems. We create promises and covenants to form a tightly bound community. Our flexible approach challenges each student with their differentiated learning plan and inspires them through real-world projects.
